Beyond Kajang, Selangor PKR key to new party line-up
All eyes might be on the Kajang by-election but in PKR, members in Selangor are an important factor in determining the leadership this May as more than 25% of its half a million members who are eligible to vote are from the state.
Party officials say this could mean a hotly-contested election between top state officials, Selangor PKR chairman Azmin Ali and Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, if the current state mentri besar decides to go for the party deputy presidency. Azmin is the current deputy president.
"144,020 of the 500,001 PKR members who can vote this time come from Selangor, followed by Sabah (86,955)," Datuk Johari Abdul, chairman of the 2014 PKR party elections committee, told The Malaysian Insider in an interview.
Malaysia Is Anwar joining forces with Najib, asks ex-NST editor
Is PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) forging an alliance with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak?
This is the poser raised by veteran journalist Datuk A. Kadir Jasin in his latest blog posting.
Kadir said it was a win-win deal for both Najib and Anwar, as both parties would benefit immensely from an alliance.
"Najib and his inner circle can count on Anwar to do battle with Dr Mahathir and Daim."
Therefore, with one brilliant manoeuvre, Najib would strengthen his position, destroy the Pakatan Rakyat coalition and get rid of his fiercest critics.

Apostasy because of weaknesses in Islamic agencies, says PAS ustaz
A former committee member of Selangor PAS's Ulama wing, who is making a name for himself among moderate Malays, has blamed the weaknesses in state religious departments for cases of apostasy among Muslims and not proselytising by Christians.

Dr M's motives on Islam questioned: Why suddenly bring Kassim Ahmad back into the limelight?
A Muslim NGO has taken former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad to task for defending controversial scholar Kassim Ahmad.
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (Mapim) president Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid said the views put forth by Kassim have been considered deviant by Islamic scholars and thinkers.
“But Mahathir however is of the opinion that Kassim’s move to question the fundamentals of Islam - which is the proclamation of faith for Prophet Muhammad is not part of the proclamation of faith for Allah - is not wrong.
“Mahathir believes that Kassim’s view should be accepted if it cannot be argued to the contrary,” he added.
Kassim has argued that the Quran should not be interpreted using the 'hadith' (sayings and actions of the Prophet) but be reinterpreted for modern times.
'Hadith' has been traditionally used by Islamic scholars to help interpret the Quran.
Mapim also called on the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) to put its foot down on this matter. The latter had issued a statement earlier calling for action to be taken.
“Just because he (Kassim) had been given an avenue supported by Mahathir as the ex-PM, it does not mean that the religious authorities cannot rebut Kassim and Mahathir and take action if the two continue to be stubborn (in their views).
“Both of them are very old and those who are like-minded may not want to repent from this deviant view, but this view cannot be allowed to spread in the form of publications or talks,” he added.
Dr M himself not without controversy
Expressing regret over Mahathir’s defence of Kassim, the Mapim president said the scholar’s comments on the “priest caste” were akin to rejecting the Fatwa Council, which comprises qualified muftis.
“Mahathir himself is not free of controversy with regard to his view towards religious authorities. He had questioned the credibility of the ulama, who issued an edict forbidding Muslim women from participating in beauty contests.
“This was the Miss Malaysia Petite in 1977, where Mahathir locked horns with Selangor mufti Ishak Baharom, who was later expelled in 1997 on Mahathir’s urgings,” he added.
Azmi said that Mapim feels that the time has come for Islamic authorities to come up with a definitive stand on the viewpoints perpetuated by Kassim.
During a recent lecture at the Perdana Leadership Foundation, officiated by Mahathir, Kassim had also called on Muslims to return the Quran as the sole and highest source of guidance in Islam, and to reinterpret the holy book to suit modern times. - Mkini
Activist’s murder rattles Myanmar nationals in Malaysia
The murder of a Myanmar-born democracy activist in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, has unnerved Myanmar nationals in Malaysia, who worry that religious tension back home is spilling into their sizable community in their adoptive country, a news report said today.
Ko Aung Gyi, a Buddhist and member of the Malaysian chapter of 88 Generation & New Generation Society – a prominent group pushing for further democratic reforms in Myanmar – was found dead on February 4, police said.
The 43-year-old activist's body had been stuffed in the boot of an abandoned car, they said. An autopsy report showed he had been stabbed in the neck and face by a screwdriver, attacked with a heavy object – possibly a brick or club – and punched several times.
"I am frightened," said Myat Ko Ko, a Buddhist who had demonstrated alongside Aung Gyi for democratic reform in Myanmar.
"What happened to Aung Gyi can happen to the rest of us activists," he was quoted as saying by the Asian Wall Street Journal in a report yesterday.
Aung Gyi's death came the same week two Buddhist politicians from Myanmar's troubled Rakhine state escaped unharmed after a drive-by shooting while visiting Kuala Lumpur, in what police described as a likely assassination attempt.
Aye Maung, a legislator, and Aye Thar Aung, president of the Arakan League for Democracy – a group that champions the rights of ethnic Rakhine Buddhists – said in a press conference that they believe "religious terrorists" were involved in the attempt on their lives.
Malaysian police, however, haven't released a motive or identified a suspect in either attack.
"No evidence so far" links the two incidents, police told the global business daily on Monday.
The investigation, a police officer said, "will cover all angles to establish the motive" behind the killing of Aung Gyi, including a possible political link.
Rising anti-Muslim sentiment in Myanmar has stained its promising democratic transition, pitting the majority Buddhists against the minority group, especially in Rakhine state, which borders Bangladesh.
More than 150,000 still remain displaced after riots there forced people from their homes and into makeshift shelters, the paper said.
Clashes have spread to other parts of the country over the past year, killing at least 150 – the victims overwhelmingly Muslim.
Security experts have warned that these tensions could spill into other parts of the region, particularly Muslim-majority Malaysia and Indonesia where those sympathetic towards the plight of Myanmar Muslims could carry out revenge attacks.
Malaysia is especially vulnerable to these tensions, with a large population of both Buddhist and Muslim Myanmar residents, the business daily reported.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said 34,368 Rohingya are registered as refugees in Malaysia, along with 7,940 ethnic Rakhines.
Also, an estimated thousands of others from Myanmar are in Malaysia illegally or awaiting refugee status. Most ethnic Rakhines are Buddhist, while Rohingya are predominantly Muslim.
Myanmar activists in Malaysia, who are Buddhists, told The Wall Street Journal they are increasingly afraid for their lives.
Meanwhile, Myanmar Muslims living in Malaysia fear that they could be unfairly blamed for the attacks and then become a target of violence.
"I have never heard of Rohingyas killing activists or politicians in all my life," said Abdul Hamid Musa Ali, president of the Rohingya Society in Malaysia, a group that provides assistance to Muslim Rohingya refugees in the country.

The Spirit of Christianity In Anwar Ibrahim.
Christianity and Islam has a lot of similarities. The same can be said to Judaism. However, only Islam acknowledge the existence of Jesus and his relationship with God/Allah. Jesus in the Muslims theology refers him as a prophet (a messenger from Allah). In Christianity he is also regarded as a messenger and also the Son Of God.

Lying Infront Of The Kaabah, Mecca.
Saiful Bukhari is notoriously known as the one who accused Anwar Ibrahim for sodomizing him. We do not want to discuss about Muslims perception towards gays and other alternative sexual orientation. However, we must understand that Saiful's claim on such matter has no bearing what so ever.
Here he is swearing in front of the holy Kaabah. Sodomy is a crime in Islamic law. If Saiful was sodomize by Anwar Ibrahim, he himself should be punished for allowing another man to do such thing to him.
Selangor able to give free water to Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya households, says Khalid
The Selangor Pakatan Rakyat government will be able to extend its free 20 cubic metres of water programme to each household in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur provided that the federal government allows it to implement its water restructuring exercise.
Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the restructuring exercise, where the state government would take over four private companies, would allow it to finance the RM2 billion needed to provide free 20 cubic metres of water to every household in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
"This is part of our offer to get the support of the people of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. This is part of our restructuring exercise," Khalid said after attending a summit on water and energy in Kuala Lumpur today. – February 18, 2014.

Menteri Besar or not, Anwar can help douse the flames in Selangor
There may still be lingering doubts on whether the "Kajang Move" is a wise one.
But Pakatan Rakyat leaders believe that integrating Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim into Selangor’s administration will help deal with the flames of mistrust and intolerance that are about to get worse in multi-ethnic Selangor.
Anwar’s skill as a communicator and negotiator can only be fully harnessed if he is first made a state lawmaker, which then paves the way for him to make real change on the ground as part of the state administration.

Najib’s image takes a knock with Waytha’s resignation over unfulfilled promises
Datuk Seri Najib Razak's standing is in tatters with P. Waytha Moorthy's resignation as deputy minister over unfulfilled promises made to the Indian community before Election 2013.
Those close to the Hindraf chief say he felt that the prime minister's word counts for little, quite similar to the 10-point solution for the Malay Bible that Najib now says is subject to state Islamic laws.
Both agreements with Hindraf and the Christians were cobbled together before elections by a prime minister that critics say is not really able or committed to keeping his word.

Friday sermon once again stresses that ‘Allah’ is only for Muslims
The Federal Islamic Affairs Department (Jakim) has once again declared that the term “Allah” is exclusive to Muslims, according to the text in the Friday sermon, published on the department's website.
In the sermon, Jakim said that the ban on the use of “Allah” by non-Muslims is based on a National Fatwa Council ruling that the word was specific to Islam and Muslims, and cannot be used or equated to terms in other religions.
The sermon also called on Muslims to prevent the term from being used by non-Muslims. – February 7, 2014.

The Eucharist gives us a taste of heaven :Pope
VATICAN CITY: During his general audience, Pope Francis spoke on the significance of the Sacrament of the Eucharist, explaining that it is a banquet which reminds us of the eternal life that is yet to come.
“The Eucharist configures us in a unique and profound way with Jesus,” the Pope noted in his Feb. 5 general audience, “renewing our heart, our existence, and our relationship with Him and with our brothers, and gives us a foretaste of communion with the Father in the banquet of the King of heaven.”
The Stupidity Of Muslims In The Allah Issue
The words and actions of those in power and their unquestioning supporters indicate that they are trying to drive home the point that MIGHT is right. That is why they demand that the minority must bow to the ‘sensitivities’ of the majority. But those sensitivities are self-induced, as no one is ever born with such sensitivities.Sensitivities are one’s own choice.
For example, the Malay children in the mission schools of the 1950s and 60s could sit on the same table and eat their halal food while their non-Muslim friends ate their non-halal food which included pork. Each respected the other. There were no demands that school canteens should stop selling non-halal and pork containing dishes. Was the Malaysian Islam of those days not the same as the Malaysian Islam of these days?

St Micheal Prayer For Anwar Ibrahim.
Sometimes it is hard for us to grasp the reality of Malaysian politics. Racism, corruption and nepotism are rampant thus making this country a hostile nation for those who seek peace and tranquillity in the eyes of Allah.
Let it be known that one man taught us not to accept our "fate" and to wait for the authorities to give us our rights. Let the world know that a few stood against many in this bountiful nation. The lack of political awareness is not the end of us. But the inaction of good people might be the trigger point of our down fall as a nation.

DAP falls for Umno's 'Allah' trap
COMMENT The ‘Allah’ issue has been a classic, extremely effective Umno trap. When this issue reaches headlines, everybody loses, and nobody wins, except for Umno.
I’ve written about why this is so many times. To summarise quickly: this issue always polarises. ‘Polarisation’ here means that Malaysians who believe their religion is under siege (this applies to both sides) become increasingly convinced that they are correct.
They then behave as anyone who feels their religion is under siege can be expected to.
For ultra conservative or rigid Muslims, this means turning to Umno. They cannot fully turn to PAS, which is ironically more religious, because it has stated that it is all right for non-Muslims to use ‘Allah’ (in a way, they also are victim of a trap - but perhaps in a good way).
Many non-Muslims meanwhile, start to feel more and more like they are being oppressed by the majority. Some give up hope on Malaysia, and start looking for the exit sign. This of course, plays right into Umno’s hands - it means fewer people who will be here to vote for Pakatan Rakyat.

Kami Yang Ditindas.
Hijau daun hilang segarnya,
Langit biru hilang serinya,
Nafas tersekat tetap dihela,
Bagai menanti hari dibela,
Dimana perginya hak kami?
Dibiar terlantar sakit dan sepi,
Dibiar melarat tanpa penghuni,
Bagaikan malu menempah mati.
Kuning yang cekal kami kekalkan,
Agar segera pembersihan dilakukan,
Biar gegak gempita alam maya,
Biar jatuh beribu patung cendana.
Najib Razak bukan Tuhan,

Elok kita sampaikan pesan,
Agar generasi baru tidak lena,
Jangan takut jangan gentar,

Anwar: There was never a Khalid-Azmin ‘deal’
INTERVIEW Despite much speculation, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim said that no condition was set by Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim when he agreed to the controversial ‘Kajang Move’.
Pemerkasaan Bahasa Melayu Dalam Agama Kristian

Muslim Killing and Raping Chinese, Indian and Malay!
This post was taken from a Non-Muslim Malay blog: We do not fully agree with its statement against the Malay race. But for the Muslim part.......
Malays misunderstand you. They think you insult Islam. No, you do not Insult Islam. Islam has many races: Chinese, Indians, Malays etc. Malays have many beliefs. Malays are not Muslims. Malay is a race. Muslim politicians are insecure with non-Muslim and non-Muslim Malays.
Marital Rape, Myth or Reality By Barrington H. Brennen, November 18, 2004
Is it possible for a married man to rape his wife? Yes. As one author states, "Even if a woman has had consensual sex with someone in the past, that person can rape her if he forces her to have sex when she does not want to. Anytime a man has sex with his wife with the use of fear and coercion, it is rape." In The Bahamas, if a couple is legally separated, in the process of seeking legal separation, or divorced, the husband can becharged with marital rape if he sexually forces himself on his estranged wife. However, there is no protection for the thousands of wives or husbands who are not separated or estranged from their spouses and appear to be living in a "normal" relationship, but who in their homes, are being sexually coerced and traumatized.
It seems that when the topic of marital rape is brought up, it causes a passionate flow of religious juices to start, especially among miss-informed Christian men. To support their notion that husbands cannot rape their wives, they quickly refer to Biblical passages such as 1 Corinthians 7:3-5:
Roman Rituals for exorcising Demons.
(This is the Official Rite for expelling demons from people certified as being possessed by authorized Catholic priests.)
RITE OF EXORCISM
The priest delegated by the Ordinary to perform this office should first go to confession or at least elicit an act of contrition, and, if convenient, offer the holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and implore God's help in other fervent prayers. He vests in surplice and purple stole. Having before him the person possessed (who should be bound if there is any danger), he traces the sign of the cross over him, over himself, and the bystanders, and then sprinkles all of them with holy water. After this he kneels and says the Litany of the Saints, exclusive of the prayers which follow it. All present are to make the responses.
Anwar Ibrahim: The True Statesman Of Malaysia.
It is crucial for each and every Malaysian to understand the vision and mission of DSAI. He is not only a symbol of freedom and justice for the Malaysian people, but also a beacon that will show us the true meaning of being a Malaysian.
Ever since his time in UMNO, Anwar Ibrahim was never racist. He is one of the most intellectual leaders that UMNO could ever had, but then again, they kicked him out because he was telling the truth. Corruption was rampant back then as it was today. He tries to save the pro-Malay party because he loves his Malay heritage but at the same time he do not want Malaysia to turn into a divided society. That is also why he loves reading books about other cultures especially the Chinese culture.
Anwar is a true liberal and secular leader that we need here in our country. We must let everyone knows that DSAI's vision is for everyone to have the freedom that we deserve. The freedom to do anything and everything that we want as long as it will not impeach any laws of the land. Anwar Ibrahim also promotes good faith between Christians and Muslim as was stated in many of his public announcement and ceramah.
Even though DSAI is one of the founder of ABIM (Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia) currently a society front of para-military Islamic military jihad organization, Anwar Ibrahim was reluctant in debating Islam Vs Christianity and more keen on discussing the similarity of both of the religion. He tries to change the was of ABIM and UMNO to suite the multicultural scene in Malaysia.
Just imagine if he was not sacked as the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia in 1998. What a glorious nation we have been if Anwar Ibrahim was the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
However, it seems like God has provide us with a solution all along. If Anwar Ibrahim were unable to become the PM of Malaysia, why not become the Menteri Besar of Selangor (the most develop state in Malaysia)?
May Allah grant all of his wishes and protect him from his political enemies.
#Anwar4Kajang
Replaying the 1998 Script.
Character assasination has been proven effective in political or neo-political movements in Malaysia. This can be seen in many of Malaysian politician history. The fact of the matter is, none of our politician has the guts to stand up when they are being attacked by their enemies.
Anwar Ibrahim is an exception to this particular issue. Ever since his fall from grace in UMNO, and being cast out from the government by Tun Dr Mahathir, Anwar has turned a blind eye over the accusation of homosexuality and corruption that was said to have taken place during his era as the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.
As a leader of the people, Anwar did not fall down and die like most politician would be after failing to take the top post of the country. The like of Razaleigh Hamzah, Musa Hitam, Ghafar Baba and many others who tried to chellenge Tun Mahathir's verdict was treated as an outcast and regarded as an enemy of not only the administration but also the people of the country. Anwar Ibrahim stood tall against all these accusation and become one of the legendary politician in Malaysian political history.
We know now that his conviction to save Malaysia is much more than being a political leader. Anwar is a smart and talented leader not only for his followers but also for his country.
We know that almost all of the good ideas that Najib has brought fourth comes from Anwar Ibrahim himself. Even the Tun would not have the strength to challenge Anwar Ibrahim.
As a Malaysian we must welcome change. A good change not only for ourselves, but also for future generation to come.
Now UMNO do not have anything to pitch against Anwar Ibrahim. It is clear that Anwar himself is engaging the rakyat not only with a promise, but also with a vision that the Pakatan Rakyat would make a better Malaysia rather than the Barisan Nasional government.
